HOUTZDALE MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY CUSTOMERS

Dear Valued Customer,

On June 18, 2019, the Houtzdale Municipal Authority board of directors approved a water rate increase for all current and future customers of the Houtzdale Municipal Authority system effective August 1, 2019. 

The quarterly residential base rate will increase from $67.00 per quarter to $75.00 per quarter.  The usage rate will increase from $3.20 per thousand gallons used to $3.90 per thousand gallons used. The new rates will take effect August 1, 2019 but will not be reflected in your quarterly bill until the November 2019 billing cycle. The November billing cycle is for consumption of water from August to October.  For a typical single-family residential water customer using 15,000 gallons per quarter, your water bill will increase $18.50 per quarter. It is our goal to allow sufficient time to inform you of this increase, so you are aware of the change when you receive your bill.

 The Houtzdale Municipal Authority is committed to its goal to provide and maintain a dependable high-quality source of water for its customers while keeping with rigorous regulations and demands. Our water rates ensure that operations are fiscally sound while meeting operational costs and debt service requirements. In order to continue at this level and meet PA DEP regulations, the Authority finds it necessary to increase our present rates. The Authority’s water rates are established to be fair and equitable for every customer. Our rates are established specifically for financial needs and to provide sufficient funds to deliver the best service possible while meeting Federal, State and customer expectations for “Safety, Excellence, and Reliability.”
